the main thrust being to encourage success through the pursuit of excellence
and team work. Strong emphasis is placed on youth activities.
Powermann
sailing sponsorship
The
Powermann support RIB (top right) is frequently seen throughout the UK
at major sailing venues offering safety cover and a stable platform for
on the
water judging and training with special support for RYA www.rya.org.uk
Youth Squad sailors. In 2005 it was trailed to Spain to support the UK
International Cadet Squad at the world championships in Sanxenxo. The Powermann
sponsored 49er (pictured left)
is located at Parkstone Yacht Club to offer young sailors the opportunity
to experience
Olympic
level sailing. With the Olympic sailing venue at Weymouth in 2012 Powermann
hopes to encourage interest at this level from local sailors by offering
youngsters access to a suitable boat. Powermann
Supporting the UK’S 2012 Olympic Campaign
Powermann's support of sailing is designed to reflect the company's own
attributes within the electrical supply industry together with an acknowledgment
that in youth lies the company's future. With this in mind Powermann
are pleased to announce an extension to their sailing sponsorship this
year to support the 2012 Olympic Campaign.
We are delighted
to be supporting Miles and Ole (right) in the International Cadet “Pulling
Power”. They have qualified
for the 2005/2006 RYA
Cadet National Junior Squad with a target of representing England at
the World Championships at Balatonfüred in Hungary in the summer
of 2006.
“UPROAR”,
a Poole based Impala Offshore One Design race boat is being actively
campaigned by a group of young sailors
from Poole www.gbr9561.com.
Following a successful early season campaign in local waters the Team
headed west to take part in the prestigious Royal Torbay
Yacht club regatta at Torquay www.gbr9561.com/news/250/. Scoring a very
creditable 2nd in class to a more experienced and heavier crew the Team
were very pleased with the result and thanked Powermann for the new Spinnaker
which helped them perform so well! BACK
TO TOP The Powermann
sponsored 420 racing dingy www.420sailing.org.uk is
now in full campaign mode. The helm has been selected and, following
some
early trials, a crew has joined the Team.
The
first outing for the new pair was at Rutland Water over the last weekend
in November in a biting F3-4 north wind, not the best environment
to get to grips with the new, technical and powerful sailing boat!
Miles (helm) and Richard (crew), both from Parkstone Yacht Club
in Poole finished every race, not easy in the conditions, and now
realise
the
very steep learning curve they are on to transfer from the little
International Cadet dingy they are both used to, to a high performance
trapeze boat
in an older age group. BACK
